In Guangdong Zhanjiang Wuchuan City, a 1st-grade male student from the Third Middle School was subjected to a brutal bullying incident by 4 male classmates, causing outrage among the public. Reports indicate that a large number of people surrounded the school gate, demanding justice for the bullied child. The parents of the victimized student stated that their child has intellectual disabilities.

Recently, a distressing video circulated on the internet showing a middle school student being bullied by 4 male students inside a classroom. The video captures one male student in school uniform sitting at the back of the classroom, holding a white cup. A classmate pushed a broom against his chest, while another student took out an object from a black bag on the ground and tried to force it into the male student’s open mouth. Simultaneously, another student used a mop to hit the male student’s face and head, while someone recorded the incident.

Subsequently, another student kicked the male student, and someone even threw a mop at him… The entire bullying process lasted approximately 1 minute.

The video’s spread sparked concern, with numerous netizens expressing deep distress and outrage.

According to Da Feng News, the incident occurred on February 19th, involving the victim and several perpetrators who were all classmates at the Third Middle School in Guangdong Zhanjiang Wuchuan City, aged around 13 to 14 years old.

On February 21st, family members of the bullied middle school student informed mainland media that the child has intellectual disabilities and has since returned home. On February 20th, the family had already visited the police station to address the issue.

Netizens condemned the incident as extremely heinous, prompting anger and sorrow among many, leading to calls for severe punishment of the campus bullies.

Videos circulating on social media platforms like Douyin show a large crowd gathering outside the school in response to learning about the mentally challenged student being bullied, demanding accountability. Iron barriers were placed outside the school gate to prevent people from getting too close.

The reason for the assault is currently under investigation, and the victim received medical examination after the incident, with the results pending.

The 4 students who participated in the assault have faced disciplinary actions and are currently absent from school.

In mainland China, campus bullying incidents have been increasingly reported, some even resulting in fatalities.

According to the China Youth Research Center’s study from 2020 to 2022, over half (53.5%) of the surveyed minors admitted to experiencing bullying in schools.

The 2023 edition of “Legal Daily” pointed out that many schools lack support and reporting mechanisms, while many teachers lack the necessary training and sense of responsibility to protect students. This results in students not trusting the school to address issues fairly, potentially causing greater harm and trauma to bullies, victims, and bystanders.

Chinese writer Liao Zusheng analyzed that the main reason campus bullying remains unchecked is the lack of justice in the Chinese Communist Party’s legal system. With daylight incidents of students being killed and law enforcement failing to uphold justice for victims but rather treating them alongside criminals, the country lacks a proper legal framework. This absence creates a pervasive sense of insecurity not only in schools but in all corners of society.
