Ningbo man brandishes sword in restaurant, injuring several people

On February 12th, a sword attack incident occurred in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, with official reports stating that four people were injured. However, according to online sources, five people were actually injured in the incident.

A circulated video shows outside the Pingjie Hot Pot restaurant at Tianyi Square in Ningbo, an ambulance parked nearby, multiple police officers at the scene, and a large amount of bloodstains visible on the ground. Additionally, there was a blood-stained sword left outside the KFC entrance nearby.

According to a report from the Haishu Branch of Ningbo Public Security Bureau on the evening of February 12th, a 34-year-old man named Wang, a former employee of the restaurant, was involved in a dispute with the restaurant due to work-related reasons. He arrived at the restaurant around 4:30 pm on the same day to communicate and got into a conflict with the staff inside, resulting in injuries to four employees.

However, according to a screenshot circulating online, the employee had actually been fired prior to the incident. After the dispute that day, he used a weapon he had brought with him to injure five employees instead of four. The message also mentioned that the suspect had been taken into police custody, and the scene had been coordinated with the store and property management for coverage and security measures.

Another netizen commented on the video section, stating that the overnight shift customer service representative told them, “There was a madman with a sword attacking five people at Tianyi, there is evidence, I even thought it was in the subway station, wondering why the transportation authority didn’t issue a system-wide alert yet. The customer service representative clarified that it wasn’t at the subway station, almost scaring me to death.”
