At the American Film Institute (AFI) Awards ceremony on the evening of the 27th, 56-year-old Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in a ceremony held in Los Angeles, California. Kidman, wearing a gold Parisian haute couture gown, was accompanied by her family, including her husband, Australian country singer Keith Urban, their two daughters, and her sister Antonia Kidman. American actor Morgan Freeman also humorously imitated her popular AMC commercial during the event.
Having dual American and Australian citizenship, Nicole Kidman is the first Australian to receive the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award. As she walked the red carpet, her husband Keith Urban, daughters, and sister showed their love and support for her.
The 49th AFI Awards ceremony took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award has been presented since 1973 to individuals who have contributed to the American film or television industry.
Past recipients of the award include Barbra Streisand, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Jane Fonda, Dustin Hoffman, Steven Spielberg, George Clooney, Denzel Washington, and others.
Keith congratulated Nicole on Instagram, listing past AFI award winners and expressing his pride in her achievement, “Baby girl – I am so proud of you, even though I sound like a biased husband, but I’ll let the list of previous winners speak for me, there are so many!”
Nicole expressed her gratitude to AFI for making her childhood dream come true and was thrilled to attend the ceremony with friends and family, including her 15-year-old daughter Sunday Rose Kidman Urban and 13-year-old Faith Margaret Kidman Urban. She shared on Instagram, “I see and hear the support from all around the world, which deeply touches me, thank you.”
Several other stars in attendance included American actresses Joey King, Cynthia Erivo, Reese Witherspoon, and actor Morgan Freeman.
Of note, due to Nicole’s AMC movie theater commercial becoming an internet meme, with many people imitating her performance, even Morgan did not miss out. During the awards ceremony, Morgan humorously mimicked Nicole’s act.
Morgan also mentioned Nicole’s starring role in the 2001 film “Moulin Rouge!” and expressed that it is his favorite film. In 2002, Nicole won the Oscar for Best Actress for “The Hours.”
