Today’s highlights: Why is He Jinli rising in popularity? Revealing the secrets behind her record-breaking fundraising efforts! Lack of script in Taiwan’s military exercises reveals hints of various details. Is Taiwan becoming an international darling? Three reasons why the US must support Taiwan against China! The “Zero Day Attack” reveals this explosive secret against Chinese aggression!
The 81-year-old US President Biden recently announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election due to contracting the coronavirus. However, he stated that he will “focus on fulfilling his duties for the remainder of his term in the next 6 months.” On the evening of the 24th, Biden made a national speech, with some speculating that this may be his last national address.
Currently, it appears that the successor to the election is Vice President Harris, known in Chinese as He Jinli. Although the Democratic Party Convention has not been convened yet, and He Jinli has not received the official nomination from within the party, she has garnered the support of the majority of party delegates, solidifying her position as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.
Reuters/ Ipsos’ latest polls show He Jinli leading Trump by 2 percentage points, at 44% versus 42%.
Is He Jinli on a roll? Former President Trump faced an assassination attempt and led to a united Republican Party. With He Jinli taking the reins of the campaign, the election race has become very unpredictable, making people exclaim, “What a July surprise!” How many variables are there left in the 2024 US election? Everything is still up in the air.
Q1: Jin Shi, He Jinli raised a record-breaking $81 million in a day and is neck and neck with Trump in polls. Why is she receiving strong support from within the Democratic Party?
Q2: Qin Yue, assuming He Jinli wins, will there be any changes in US-China relations? Will America’s tough stance against the CCP change?
Qin Yue’s response: Whether He Jinli wins or not depends first and foremost on the final answer given by American voters. Let’s look at Biden’s actions: Biden has followed Trump’s policies towards China. Instead of speculating whether He Jinli will change China policy, it’s more about the attitudes of both US parties towards the CCP. The US operates based on popular mandate, and both parties’ views represent the public opinion. Americans have a low opinion of the CCP, so He Jinli will naturally follow suit, being tough on China. This is currently the only consensus between the two parties. Case closed.
However, when it comes to Biden’s withdrawal from the election, it has left many hanging by a thread. Why? Biden publicly stated at least five times before that the US would not stand idly by if the CCP invaded Taiwan. This assurance likely warmed the hearts of many Taiwanese friends. But in the next four years, whether it’s Trump or He Jinli at the helm of the White House, their adherence to Biden’s “protecting Taiwan” ideology remains uncertain, with many differing opinions.
On the Taiwan front, they recently held their annual “Han Guang Exercise.” This year’s exercise was notably different from previous ones, as it involved Taiwanese soldiers in a “scriptless” military drill, putting them in a constant state of readiness.
Q3: Tang Hao, what are the unique features of this year’s annual “Han Guang Exercise” in Taiwan compared to previous years? And why has it garnered attention from international media like the BBC?
Q4: Qin Peng, assuming He Jinli wins, will there be changes in US-China-Taiwan relations? Will the US continue to strongly support Taiwan as Biden did?
Interestingly, a movie centered around a Taiwan war theme, “Zero Day Attack,” released its trailer on the same day, with many viewers commenting that Taiwan truly needs such films. Let’s take a look.
Q5: Qin Yue, Jin Shi, Tang Hao, Qin Peng, after watching the 17-minute preview of “Zero Day Attack” online, do you believe the plot of this drama could actually happen? Which scenes left the most lasting impression on you?
The part that left the deepest impression on me was when the Taiwanese anchor asked if a war was truly imminent, and the man’s response, questioning where they could escape to. It made me ponder, if I were in Taiwan, where could I flee to? How would I escape? What choices do I have? I believe this is a question that most Taiwanese people are facing. But honestly, those brave enough to produce and invest in such a drama have my heartfelt admiration.
Winston Churchill once said, “You chose humiliation in the face of war and travail. But after humiliation, you must still face the war and fight!” Especially against the rogue CCP.
