Hello everyone, welcome to “News Talk”. I am Fu Yao. Today is Monday, December 23.
Today’s focus: Fu Yifeng: oppressed by the Chinese Communist Party since birth, wandering at train stations in his youthful years, picking up leftovers, sleeping by the river… witnessing a miraculous cultivation in China; the hardships of a Shandong native born under the one-child policy…
Fu Yifeng was born in Jinan, Shandong, China in 1996. However, at that time, China was in the midst of the frenzy of the “one-child policy” political movement.
His parents gave birth to him without obtaining a “birth permit”, and as a result, his household registration could not be processed for many years.
His family spent a lot of their savings on this matter, but the local village chief did not help resolve his identification issue after taking the money.
After graduating from primary school, Fu Yifeng could not continue his education due to his lack of household registration. Since then, he was forced to embark on a path of wandering labor. However, lacking a legal identity made it even more challenging for him to find work.
While working outside, Fu Yifeng witnessed too much injustice and unfair treatment. Over the years, he gradually realized that the setbacks in his life were not due to the commonly promoted idea in society of “not working hard enough”, but rather a small tragedy caused by the shackles of the Communist Party’s system.
After the epidemic, Fu Yifeng chose to leave China and traveled all the way from East Asia to North America, finally settling in Canada.
He now resides in Ontario, Canada, is the convener of the Overseas Chinese Civil Rights Party, and a member of the China Democratic Party. Today, we have invited him to “News Talk” to share his story.
