The New York Post announced its endorsement of former President Donald Trump on Friday, hoping that the Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election could regain the White House.
In an editorial published by the New York Post on Friday, the editorial board expressed their support for Trump and outlined the reasons for the media’s endorsement of the former president to return to the White House.
The editorial stated that this presidential election is “one of the most significant in the history of this great country” and that “this choice will have implications for decades, determining which of two vastly different paths Americans will take in the future”.
The media further expressed, “We must make the following choices: secure borders and a rational immigration system; safer cities and support for law and order; a thriving economy with low taxes and less regulation—powered by an energy policy that supports rather than punishes industry and families; common-sense policies—restoring parental rights to choose the best options for their children in school choice, transgender surgeries, and transgender athletes participating in women’s sports; an America respected on the world stage—making our enemies fear and our allies trust us.”
“Only one candidate can convincingly claim to lead us towards this goal,” the editorial continued, and that is “Donald Trump”.
The editorial also reviewed Trump’s achievements, stating that “prior to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Trump’s first term saw wage growth outpacing inflation, the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years, secure borders, and peace overseas”.
The article also pointed out that Americans are currently facing the impact of domestic inflation and illegal immigration, and internationally, they are on the brink of a larger-scale conflict.
The editorial stated, “Today, Trump shows the same strength and vigor as he did in 2016”, and emphasized, “Trump wants to free businesses from suffocating regulations and cut taxes for workers”.
The media also mentioned Trump’s policy of wanting to lift restrictions on oil and natural gas production, praising it for “promoting America’s energy independence, reducing the world’s reliance on Russia and Iran, which are hostile to the West”.
Based on the reasons above, the media concluded with their own judgment: “Donald Trump is the right choice.”
The New York Post, owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, is a newspaper under the News Corp umbrella. This conservative media outlet has previously criticized Trump on some issues but has interviewed the Republican candidate multiple times during this election cycle and ultimately endorsed him less than two weeks before election day.
