New York City Weather Rollercoaster: Temperature Plummets 26 Degrees in One Hour

New York City residents experienced a sudden and drastic temperature drop of 26 degrees within just one hour on Saturday, March 29th, despite enjoying warm and sunny weather that felt like summer. Meteorologists have suggested that this temperature swing could potentially set a new record for the largest temperature difference within a single hour in the history of Central Park.

According to data from the National Weather Service (NWS), on Saturday afternoon, the temperature in New York soared to over 80 degrees Fahrenheit (around 27 degrees Celsius), drawing a large number of people into the park to bask in the unusually warm weather. However, the pleasant conditions were short-lived as the temperature started to plummet from 79 degrees to 53 degrees Fahrenheit (around 12 degrees Celsius) within just an hour, a drastic decrease of 26 degrees that caught people off guard.

Meteorologists from the NWS explained that New York City was caught between warm and cold air masses, leading to a sudden shift in temperatures caused by a volatile air mass.

The weather bureau has issued a reminder that rain is expected later in the week, with temperatures forecasted to be as low as 49 degrees Fahrenheit (9 degrees Celsius) on Wednesday. Residents are advised to dress accordingly and be prepared for the fluctuating weather conditions.
