New South Wales Hoboken is blackmailed online, city government shuts down and online services suspended.

Hoboken, New Jersey was hit by a cyber ransomware attack in the early hours of November 27, causing the city government to shut down for the day and all online municipal services to be suspended.

The Hoboken City Hall issued a statement on its official website and social media at 10 a.m. on the same day, explaining that due to the ransomware attack, the city government was closed, all online municipal services were suspended, court hearings were canceled, street cleaning operations were halted, but garbage collection continued as scheduled, and all other parking regulations remained in effect while entertainment activities proceeded as planned. The statement also mentioned that the Hoboken Police Department was working with the city government and the information technology department to investigate the attack and restore services as soon as possible. The city hall promised to provide immediate updates as more information became available.

According to Recorded Future News, prior to this incident, several county governments, school districts, police departments, towns, and hospitals across the state of New Jersey have fallen victim to ransomware attacks. New Jersey City University was attacked by the Rhysida ransomware group in July of this year, causing significant disruptions as the school was gearing up for the new academic term. However, the ransomware group behind the Hoboken attack has not claimed responsibility for this incident so far.
