During the Chinese New Year period, fireworks and firecrackers are always a hot topic. Recently, some mainland Chinese netizens have shared videos showcasing the powerful effects of a popular firework named “Xiang 30”. In one video, a person ignited “Xiang 30” outside their home, resulting in a loud explosion that shattered all the windows of the neighboring houses. Some people even inquired about purchasing it through private messages.
Multiple videos of people testing the popular firework “Xiang 30” have been circulating online. In one video of a water test, “Xiang 30” was ignited and dropped into the water, creating a water column that reached 6 to 7 meters high.
Another individual lit “Xiang 30” outside their home, and after a deafening explosion, all the windows of the neighboring houses were shattered. The person expressed surprise at the much greater power of “Xiang 30” compared to regular firecrackers.
The product name “Xiang 30” has been circulating online under the name “Xiao Li Hua”. Some mainland Chinese bloggers have disclosed that this firework has attracted many buyers. One blogger mentioned, “Many people buy it out of curiosity for something new, but its power is too great, and even I find it unsafe.”
According to a report by “Shangyou News”, the popular firework “Xiang 30” is manufactured by a fireworks factory in Liuyang City, Hunan Province. On May 13 last year, due to concerns that its “medication content may not comply with national standards and poses significant uncertainty and risk,” it was ordered to suspend production and operations by the Hunan Provincial Emergency Management Bureau.
An official from the Liuyang City Emergency Management Bureau’s fireworks and firecrackers safety production and social supervision whistleblowing platform stated on January 27 of this year that the validity of the documents had been confirmed and there had been no documents to date allowing the resumption of production and operations. The official mentioned that inspections would be conducted on relevant factories after the Chinese New Year.
The responsible person of the fireworks manufacturing company in question, Mr. Chen, stated, “Currently, ‘Xiang 30’ was out of stock before the Chinese New Year, and during the New Year period, all fireworks factories stopped production. Supply will resume only after the New Year.” He did not directly respond to questions regarding whether the production was suspected of violations, but emphasized, “All procedures must be complete before purchasing.”
