In recent times, the frequent sightings of “mysterious drones” in the United States have sparked public concern. President-elect Trump (Donald Trump), who is about to take office, has urged the Biden administration to provide a clear explanation to the public, and President Biden himself has responded to the issue.
On Tuesday (December 17), Biden stated that so far, the drones found in the Northeast have not posed any threats, and officials are investigating the situation.
According to a report by “The Hill,” Biden told the media, “Apparently there is nothing nefarious, but they are investigating all circumstances.”
He added, “We are closely monitoring the situation, but so far, no danger has been found.”
White House National Security spokesperson John Kirby stated on Monday (December 16) that drones do not pose a national security or public safety risk, and he urged the media to remind Americans that there are over a million legally-operated drones nationwide.
Biden also specifically mentioned the number of legally flying drones.
He said, “There are many authorized drones. I think it’s one drone taking off that then others want to join in.”
President-elect Trump questioned why officials were not handling the issue more transparently during a news conference at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach on Monday.
Trump said, “They know where it comes from, where it goes, but for some reason, they don’t want to explain. I think they better clarify what it is. Our military knows, and our president is also aware.”
Recently, sightings of “mysterious drones” have been frequent in the Northeast of the United States, including in states like New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia, raising concerns among the public about potential weaknesses in homeland security.
