According to a report from the Netease account “Small Bites Commentary,” the incident took place at the Taiyuan Ocean World in Shanxi. Witnesses stated that the incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. on the 25th. Initially, the mermaid performer seemed normal, but suddenly started convulsing in the water, leaving visitors puzzled. Some speculated it was part of the act, while others thought it was a sudden illness that required immediate attention.
The video footage shows the performer staying in the water for about 20 seconds before a staff member jumped in to pull her out of the water. After being rescued from the water, the performer was urgently taken to the hospital.

In response to the incident, emergency management staff from the Taiyuan Municipal Emergency Management Bureau stated to Jiemu News on the evening of the 25th that the mermaid performer had low blood sugar during the performance, was taken to the hospital, and was currently not in critical condition.
That same evening, the official social media account of the Taiyuan Ocean World released a video showing the mermaid performer lying in the hospital bed, stating that the “mermaid” was not in any life-threatening condition. However, there was no response from the Taiyuan Ocean World on whether they would cancel the mermaid performance.
