Many X users unable to share Signal links starting from Sunday.

Several users of social media platform X have reported that since Sunday, February 16, they have been unable to share or post links to the encrypted messaging app Signal on the platform owned by Elon Musk.

Many users on X have posted that starting from Sunday, when they try to publish any links with the domain “Signal.me” on the platform, they receive a message from X saying: “There was a problem, but don’t worry – let’s try again.” When users try again, the platform will display the same message.

Another type of response is: “This request appears to be automated. To protect our users from spam and other malicious activities, we are unable to complete this action at this time. Please try again later.”

Similar responses provided by X platform include: “We cannot fulfill this request because X or our partners have identified this link as potentially harmful.”

According to tests conducted by technology news, commentary, and analysis websites such as Engadget, The Hill, TechCrunch, and others, any attempt to post “Signal.me” links through private messages, public posts, or personal profiles will result in receiving the aforementioned responses.

Tests conducted by The Hill revealed that as of 1:00 PM EST on Monday, the service for sending Signal links on X platform had not yet returned to normal.

The blog Disruptionist first reported this news. The blog also noted that other Signal links do not appear to have been blocked, such as those with the domain “Signal.org.”

It is currently unclear whether X platform intentionally blocked the “Signal.me” domain.

Signal provides end-to-end encryption and is frequently used for secure communication.
