In the afternoon of January 8, Yan Cheng’s wife took to a social media platform claiming that Yan Cheng was forced to jump off the building and died by the Secretary and Acting Director of the Nehe Branch of State Grid Heilongjiang Company.
The last message Yan Cheng posted on his social circle, as disclosed by his wife, indicated that the reason for his suicide was suspected to be the illegal and disciplinary activities he was forced to engage in by Secretary Jiang.
The post read, “Secretary Jiang, you are too overbearing. You want to take 500,000 RMB from our company, and you even forced me to handle other violations and illegal activities. If I don’t comply, you will transfer me to another position. The pressure is too great, life is too difficult, it’s meaningless. Goodbye, world.”
According to Yan Cheng’s wife, he jumped off the building and committed suicide around 6 a.m. on the 8th, and his body was brought to the Tianfu Garden Funeral Home in Nehe City around 9 a.m.

On the morning of January 9, Yan Cheng’s wife stated that company officials had visited her home and verbally informed her that Jiang had been “temporarily suspended” and that an investigation was underway.
