In mainland China this year, there have been a series of gold shop robberies. On July 12, a 38-year-old man in Ningbo, Zhejiang, robbed a gold shop with a toy gun, causing the staff to scream in fear. The man was arrested.
On the 13th, a video circulating on the internet in mainland China showed a man wearing a white shirt and black pants robbing a gold shop in Zhejiang. The man, appearing to hold a gun, kicked the glass with his feet and put the stolen gold jewelry into a backpack on his back. The staff inside the store were in a state of panic, screaming. Citizens outside the store filmed the scene, saying, “He’s holding a gun.”
The Cixi Public Security Bureau in Zhejiang reported on the 13th that the incident occurred around 8:30 pm on July 12. In Xiaolin Town, Cixi City, a man armed with a toy gun robbed a gold shop and fled. The suspect, a 38-year-old man named Maomoumou, has been captured.
The report did not disclose the motive behind the robbery or other details of the case.

In March of this year, a video surfaced online showing a robbery at the Lifusal Jewelry store in the Wanda Plaza in downtown Hangzhou, Zhejiang. A young man in black and white pants, wearing sunglasses, fearlessly smashed the display cases with a hammer and stuffed the gold and silver jewelry into a black bag he carried. When the man was caught on the street, he repeatedly shouted in non-standard Mandarin, claiming diplomatic immunity and saying “I am not Chinese.” However, official reports revealed that the man was from Yunnan.
Apart from the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions, on June 2, a robbery occurred at a gold shop in Jiangxi’s Jiangxi County, Jiaoxiang Town, and the suspect was arrested.
