A man recently boarded a flight to Croatia from the UK. He fell asleep as soon as he got on the plane and woke up two hours later, thinking the plane had already arrived at its destination when he saw it on the runway. It turned out the plane hadn’t even taken off due to a mechanical issue, much to his surprise when a fellow passenger informed him.
According to a report by “News Weekly,” the male passenger was flying EasyJet from London to Split in southern Croatia. EasyJet is the largest airline in the UK and the second-largest low-cost airline in Europe.
The man’s embarrassing moment was captured by a female passenger named Fiona Weizman. She shared the footage online on June 16, and it has now been viewed over 6 million times.
In the footage, Weizman was seen covering her face with her hand, laughing, and even shedding tears of laughter, while the man next to her was also smiling.
In the caption of the footage, Weizman wrote, “The passenger next to us who was asleep thought we had already landed in Split, but in fact, we have been stuck on the plane for 2 hours due to an engineering issue and we haven’t left London.”
She also added in the post, “We found this funnier than he did. Sorry, buddy, we haven’t taken off yet!”
Similar to the situation of the man, Taiwan’s Wealth Media Chairman, Xie Jinhe, recently experienced a similar incident.
In March, Xie Jinhe took to Facebook to share that he and others, including Dong Yuan Electric Chairman Huang Maoxiong, were going to India for an inspection. They chose to fly with Thai Airways, transiting in Bangkok, Thailand, and then entering Bangalore, India.
Xie Jinhe mentioned that after boarding the plane at Taoyuan Airport in Taiwan, he took advantage of the opportunity to take a nap for about 2 hours. When he woke up, he mistakenly thought the plane had arrived in Bangkok, only to realize they were still at Taoyuan Airport, as there was only one runway left, causing the plane to be stuck on the tarmac.
Previously reported by Dajiyuan, there are various reasons for flight delays, primarily mechanical issues, bad weather, or accidents, but there are also more peculiar reasons like first-class passengers being dissatisfied with sleepwear, rodents on board, or insufficient toilet paper, making it a strange and amusing mix of incidents.
