In mainland China, various infectious diseases have been erupting nationwide, with many severe cases in hospitals and a high number of fatalities. As the Chinese New Year approaches, the latest news conference held by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Health Commission continues to cover up the truth about the epidemic. Only a video by a prominent doctor online has sparked a reaction, exposing some of the truths being concealed by the CCP.
According to the official People’s Daily, on January 17th, the CCP National Health Commission held a special news conference on “Seasonal Changes and Health,” where spokesperson and Deputy Director of the propaganda department, Mi Feng, and researcher from the CDC’s Virus Prevention and Control Institute, Wang Dayan, emphasized that the recent surge in flu cases is part of the normal seasonal trend. They claimed that recent surveillance data showed a decrease in positive infection rates in most northern regions and some provinces in the south.
However, what is the actual truth behind these claims? Epoch Times previously reported that in some parts of mainland China, children have died from acute necrotizing encephalopathy after being infected with the flu virus, considered the most severe complication of the flu virus, resulting in death within a day.
The focus of this article is on the children who have died from “viral myocarditis” caused by the flu virus. Dr. Weilu Xiangqian, a popular science blogger with 29.01 million followers in China, released a video on January 8th, “Urgent Warning: Outbreak of Viral Myocarditis in Children.” Through three cases, he warned parents to be cautious if their child, after recovering from the flu, experiences symptoms such as leg pain while walking or running, indicating possible viral myocarditis. He emphasized the danger of this condition.
The video quickly gained millions of views overnight, with 940,000 likes and 43,000 comments, sparking a huge reaction, resonance, and discussion online.
From the comments left by people in the comment section, it is evident that the mortality rate from this wave of flu virus is high. Journalists reviewed the first 500 comments (first level) out of the 43,000 comments under the video, accounting for 1.16% of the total, and found that there were 20 cases of family members or friends dying shortly after being infected with the virus, many from myocarditis.

Since this child passed away, the hospital now requires mandatory cardiac enzyme tests for anyone with a fever.”
Many of the 500 comments express gratitude for the doctor’s public education efforts and share personal experiences to corroborate the doctor’s statements. Due to space constraints, only three examples can be provided.
A mother from Tianjin with the alias “Z Succulent” commented on January 11th, “Thank you, because of watching your video, I noticed that something was off with my child’s breathing and rushed to the hospital. The creatine kinase level was 2000. We are currently waiting for a hospital bed.”

We thought it was muscle soreness from the flu. At 11 pm, we saw your video, immediately decided to take the child to the emergency room, where tests revealed high levels of cardiac enzymes, over 1200.”

The following day, on January 9th, Dr. Weizi released another video stating, “It’s truly terrifying, judging by the comments section on my video. Within just one night, tens of millions were watching.” He shared a few cases from the comments section, highlighting, “One of the most heartbreaking comments I read yesterday afternoon was about a pediatrician’s child who died from myocarditis.”
The video also garnered significant attention with over a million likes and 48,000 comments. Among them, nine comments mentioned two more children who had passed away.
A netizen from Zhejiang commented a week ago, “It’s truly heartbreaking; two children in my son’s second-grade class have passed away because their parents thought it was just a common cold, took medication from a pharmacy, didn’t pay much attention, and eventually developed complications.”
Virus expert Lin Xiaoxu told Epoch Times that the latest surveillance data from the CCP has significant issues, stating, “The total number of flu patients in the whole country during winter is just over 100 – how is that possible? It’s almost unbelievable. Reports from other provinces this winter have indicated cases in the tens of thousands. This suggests either the national flu surveillance center is conducting inadequate testing, or the reported data is being downplayed.”
He further analyzed that based on the information online about many people discussing the deaths of family members, friends, and elderly residents in their villages due to respiratory infections, it is evident that the impact of respiratory infections this winter has been severe. This is not just a normal seasonal high incidence issue.
Given the high number of severe cases and deaths, as well as reported difficulties in crematoriums handling the situation, there are likely several major issues at play. One is the seriousness of the H1N1 flu not being communicated to the public, and the possibility of avian flu being involved, as shown by Shanghai’s 3-year ban on live poultry sales.
Dr. Lin Xiaoxu also warned that repeated infections with the new coronavirus have led to widespread immune suppression, increasing the likelihood of severe cases upon re-infection with routine respiratory viruses. This includes the development of myocarditis and potentially life-threatening conditions, which might be related to multiple infections with the new coronavirus. Additionally, this winter, it could be related to the severity of the H1N1 flu or the outbreak of avian flu.
He also expressed concerns about China’s refusal to use more effective imported drugs for treatment, potentially resulting in poorer treatment outcomes and more deaths. He emphasized that the issues in China are multifaceted.
With the Chinese New Year approaching and the high risk of infection due to large population movements, the official media at the health-themed news conference by the Health Commission did not mention the need for people to wear masks when going out, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay away from crowded places.
Meanwhile, a popular TikTok blogger, Wang Wenming, revealed in a video on January 16th, “The H1N1 flu is ten times worse than COVID-19! Everyone in the neighboring village has fallen ill, with the elderly and children coughing persistently, having continuous phlegm, adults feeling sore all over, dizzy, three days and nights of low-grade fever, experiencing hallucinations while lying down…”
In the comments section of his video, a netizen from Shandong on January 17th said, “In our village, 35 elderly residents passed away within a month.”
Another netizen from Shanxi on January 17th commented, “In our village, in the past year, one child was born, and eight have already passed away, two more are on the brink of death, including those who recently visited our village.”
A netizen from Shanxi on January 18th mentioned, “Recently in our village, several people passed away from a ‘cold.'”
A netizen from Sichuan on January 18th commented, “This virus is indeed vicious; in my village, every four or five families on a small road have held funerals! It feels very unsettling. Yesterday, I saw many households.”
Those planning to travel to other regions during the holidays, whether from Beijing, Wuhan, Shanghai, or elsewhere, have been advising on social media platforms that the H1N1 flu is severe and it’s not advisable to travel at the moment.
Dr. Lin stated that the Chinese Communist Party consistently conceals data on public health emergencies, deceiving the public. People in China are stripped of their information rights in these aspects, as the life and death of ordinary people are not a priority for them; they are focused on social stability. The CCP government’s strategy generally omits actual conditions, finding different scapegoats with each new peak in cases.
