Mainland Chinese Spouse “Xiao Wei” Involved in Pro-War Speech, Deported by Taiwanese Immigration Agency

In the news dated April 1, 2025, a Mainland Chinese spouse referred to as “Xiao Wei” was asked to leave Taiwan by March 31 due to advocating for unification by force. Xiao Wei failed to depart by the stipulated deadline and was forcibly deported by the National Immigration Agency of the Republic of China today, April 1. She boarded a flight to Guangzhou from Taoyuan International Airport in the afternoon.

Xiao Wei, along with mainland spouses “Ya Ya” (Liu Zhenya) and “En Qi”, had their family reunion residence permits revoked by the National Immigration Agency of the Republic of China for promoting unification by force. They were also restricted from reapplying for permits within five years and had their long-term residency permits annulled. All three were required to leave Taiwan within a specific timeframe. Ya Ya left Taiwan on March 25, En Qi departed on a flight on the afternoon of March 31, while Xiao Wei failed to comply with the departure deadline.

This morning, Xiao Wei arrived at the New Taipei City Special Police Force office by herself and later was accompanied by personnel to Taoyuan International Airport at noon. Immigration officials and airport police immediately processed Xiao Wei’s check-in at the counter. In the afternoon, Xiao Wei went through customs with the assistance of the National Immigration Agency and airport police, and boarded a China Airlines flight to Guangzhou at 2:10 pm.

The National Immigration Agency of the Republic of China issued a press release today stating that Xiao Wei had repeatedly advocated for the invasion of Taiwan for unification through the Douyin platform, leading to the cancellation of her residence permit in Taiwan in accordance with the law. Considering that she has underage children in Taiwan, the agency initially granted her a 10-day opportunity to leave voluntarily, which she refused. In compliance with Article 18 of the Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area, the agency convened a review meeting before enforcing her deportation, and following discussions with experts and scholars, a decision was made to remove her forcibly.

The National Immigration Agency of the Republic of China reiterated that any public advocacy for unification by force, which undermines the sovereignty of the country, will be strictly dealt with according to the law without tolerance. The agency will enforce the law resolutely to safeguard national security and social stability. Xiao Wei has been repatriated this afternoon, and the deportation process proceeded smoothly, following all legal procedures, in an effort to protect the sovereignty and dignity of the Republic of China, Taiwan.

The National Immigration Agency expressed gratitude to the public for their collective concern regarding national security issues and reiterated their stance on upholding national security and social stability. In cases of violations, the agency will conduct thorough investigations in strict compliance with the law without compromise.
