Mainland actor Wang Xing, who went to Thailand to shoot a film and went missing, has been found, suspected of being deceived.

On January 3rd, mainland Chinese actor Wang Xing was invited to Thailand for filming, but went missing at the Thailand-Myanmar border. On January 7th, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn stated that Wang Xing’s disappearance was related to a telecommunications scam center in Myanmar, and he has been located. Wang Xing’s brother confirmed they had a video call. Mainland Chinese actress Shao Yifan revealed that Wang Xing’s reason for taking the risk was due to financial difficulties, earning less than 208 yuan a day.

According to a report from The Nation in Thailand on January 7th, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra responded to reporters after a cabinet meeting, mentioning Wang Xing’s disappearance related to a telecommunications scam center in Myanmar. The police found him in the border city of Mae Sot and are awaiting his return to Thailand. The Prime Minister emphasized the need to handle the situation properly to prevent any impact on Thailand’s tourism industry.

Thai police in Tak Province received information from the deputy commander of the Myanmar border guards on the 7th that Wang Xing had been detained on the Myanmar side of the border.

Around 9 AM on January 7th, Wang Xing’s brother Wang Qin told Cover News reporters that he had a video call with Wang Xing on the 6th afternoon. Wang Xing mentioned being sent to Mae Sot airport or elsewhere that day but hadn’t contacted him yet.

Reports from the Xiaoxiang Morning News quoted Thai police stating that Wang Xing was detained by the Myanmar Border Guard Force, and after coordination between Myanmar and Thai authorities, he was returned to Thailand by the afternoon on the 7th.

At noon on the 7th, a photo of Wang Xing with a shaven head and a tired facial expression circulated online.

Earlier on January 5th, Wang Xing’s girlfriend Jiajia sought help on Weibo, stating Wang Xing went to Thailand for filming and went missing at the Thailand-Myanmar border around noon Beijing time on the 3rd. This incident quickly drew public attention, with celebrities like Shu Qi reposting related messages on Weibo. Many actors shared their similar experiences.

The topics such as “Actor Wang Xing missing at the Thailand-Myanmar border,” “Wang Xing’s brother had a video call with him,” “Actress reveals Wang Xing earns less than 208 yuan a day,” and “Actress says Wang Xing went to Thailand due to financial difficulties” trended on Weibo.

Weibo influencer “Non-Humble Brother” commented: “From the news, it seems that Wang Xing was taken to Myanmar before, and it was Thai officials who found him and brought him back. Due to the girlfriend and family’s plea, Wang Xing’s disappearance due to fraud became a hot topic within one day, prompting attention from multiple countries and Thai Prime Minister’s direct involvement. Only Weibo can help regular people achieve this.”

Internet media figure and Weibo influencer “Internet Junming” posted: “Looking at the state Wang Xing was exposed in, he must have suffered a lot after being controlled. The Myanmar scam group released him under public and political pressure, which is quite frightening. It makes one wonder how many ordinary people are unheard.”

On January 6th, actress Shao Yifan, known for roles in dramas like “Lane House,” “Flowers Bloom,” “You Are My Glory,” and “Summer’s Desire,” revealed that she had worked with Wang Xing in “Rationalism.” She described him as a grassroots actor in Shanghai rather than a male star.

Shao Yifan mentioned that Wang Xing was eager to act, possibly had doubts, which led him to take risks out of financial necessity. She emphasized that most actors, like herself, earn barely 208 yuan a day on average. She shared her own experience, highlighting that she earns most of her income from self-media, previously working in advertising and modeling to make ends meet.

Shao Yifan expressed that Wang Xing had done a lot of work, had good business skills, and wouldn’t have fallen victim if he wasn’t in desperate need of money and work opportunities.
