Magnitude 3.0 Earthquake Strikes Tangshan, Tremors Felt in Beidaihe and Other Areas

In the past half month, there have been frequent earthquakes in various parts of China. Following the 4.2-magnitude earthquake in Jinfeng District, Yinchuan City, Ningxia on February 20, a 2.2-magnitude earthquake occurred in Tonghua County, Jilin and a 3.7-magnitude earthquake hit Xinghua City, Taizhou City, Jiangsu on the 21st. After a 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck Fan County, Henan on February 22, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in Tangshan on March 4.

The China Earthquake Networks Center officially determined that at 16:16 on March 4, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Guye District in Tangshan, Hebei (latitude 39.77 degrees, longitude 118.45 degrees) with a depth of 11 kilometers.

According to the preliminary report catalog of the China Earthquake Networks Center, there have been a total of 12 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or above within 200 kilometers around the epicenter in the past five years, with the largest being a 5.1-magnitude earthquake that occurred in Guye District, Tangshan, Hebei on July 12, 2020 (1 kilometer away from the current epicenter).

There have been no reports of casualties from this earthquake.
