On Monday, April 7, 2024 World Series champions Los Angeles Dodgers will visit the White House, where President Trump will congratulate the team on their eighth championship victory.
The Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in a thrilling 5-game series at last year’s World Series. This marked the 12th meeting between the two teams in the World Series, with the Dodgers making their fourth appearance in the past eight years.
In the decisive Game 5 of the World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers staged an incredible comeback against the New York Yankees. Despite being behind, they managed to turn the tide and clinched the championship with a 4-1 victory, adding another glorious chapter to their history by emerging as the champions of the 2024 World Series. This marked the Dodgers’ second World Series title in the past five seasons and their first full-season championship since 1988.
The tradition of sports teams visiting the White House dates back to 1865 when President Andrew Johnson welcomed two amateur clubs. In 1869, President Ulysses S. Grant extended a welcome to the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds.
The welcoming ceremony is scheduled to commence at 11 a.m. Eastern Time.
