Lin Xiuchun takes over as chairman of the Bay Area National Day Celebration Committee

The Chinese Republic National Day Committee in the Golden Bay Area held a ceremony for the handover of the chairmanship between the outgoing chairman, Ye Yunhe, and the newly appointed chairman, Lin Xiuchun, on the evening of February 20th at the Nan Wan Qiao Jiao Center. Witnessed by the Director of the Taiwan Office in San Francisco, Lai Mingqi, the symbolic transfer of duties took place as Ye Yunhe passed the official seal to the 48th new chairman, Lin Xiuchun.

During the event, 50 committee members and representatives of the National Day Committee were present, along with the Center Director, Zhuang Yashu.

Ye Yunhe reflected on the achievements of the past year, which included successfully organizing events such as the National Day flag-raising ceremony, banquets, Thanksgiving dinners, and New Year’s flag-raising events. He actively engaged in community affairs, fostering connections and collaboration.

He emphasized the involvement of the younger generation, inviting youth from business and cultural organizations to participate in National Day activities. Ye Yunhe also expressed gratitude towards the care and support extended to the elderly by the committee, acknowledging the outstanding performances of TCML students. Additionally, he personally visited Taiwanese government institutions to introduce the work of the National Day Committee, receiving positive responses and looking forward to further exchanges and cooperation in the future.

In conclusion, Ye Yunhe called for unity in supporting the new chairman, stressing the importance of collective efforts in advancing the National Day Committee. As a gesture of appreciation, he played the song “Listen to Me, Thank You” on his phone, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all his supporters.

Director Lai Mingqi, in his speech, acknowledged the dedication of the outgoing chairman, Ye Yunhe, and commended his efforts during his tenure. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the Chinese government for the committee’s hard work over the years. Director Lai highlighted the responsibilities and challenges associated with the chairmanship, emphasizing the honor and difficulties of serving the overseas Chinese community and organizing National Day events.

He welcomed the new chairman, Lin Xiuchun, praising her extensive experience and talent. He mentioned her portrayal of Xu Xian in the “Legend of the White Snake” and her design of various event posters in the Bay Area, noting her vibrant and energetic personality. Director Lai also mentioned her accompanying volunteer assistant, believing that she is well-prepared to excel in organizing National Day activities.

Director Zhuang Yashu expressed gratitude to the outgoing chairman for his hard work over the past year, which led to the successful organization of National Day events and visits to Taiwan, garnering increased support for the Chinese Republic among overseas Chinese.

She looked forward to the leadership of the incoming chairman, Lin Xiuchun, and hoped that with her youthful energy and experience, she would further unite the overseas Chinese community and promote the development of the National Day Committee, in support of the Chinese Republic.

At the event, Director Lai Mingqi presented the 2024 National Day flag-raising contribution award to outstanding groups and individuals.
