The New England Greater Boston Taiwan Chamber of Commerce held a “Financial Planning Made Easy” seminar in Cambridge on the afternoon of April 20th, featuring financial planner Su Hongchang (CFP). Sponsored by “Main Street Home Loan,” the seminar aimed to help Chinese immigrants better understand and plan their personal finances in the United States.
At 2 o’clock in the afternoon, the meeting room was filled to capacity. Su Hongchang’s engaging speech attracted attendees from various industries and backgrounds. Before the start of the seminar, he introduced the main content of the series of lectures to everyone. He emphasized that financial planning is not about becoming a miser, but about making families happier and healthier.
During the presentation, Su Hongchang explained the importance of financial planning in a simple and easy-to-understand manner, as well as how to start financial planning. He mentioned that financial planning is not limited to investments but is a comprehensive system that includes risk management, insurance, and tax planning. He stressed the importance of starting financial planning early and also highlighted that cash reserves should never be used for investments in family financial health checks.
Furthermore, Su Hongchang compared the different investment environments and philosophies between Taiwan and the United States, providing the audience with a more comprehensive perspective. He pointed out that investment is not the entirety of financial planning but only a part of it. Finally, he introduced simple investment methods, including “Edf” and “index fund,” and delved into the importance of tax planning and estate planning.
As the seminar concluded successfully, participants expressed that the seminar had inspired new perspectives on their financial concepts, which would have a positive impact on their financial planning.
The public relations officer of the Greater Boston Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Peng Shengxiang, organized the seminar. He is the founder of “Home Boston Group” and currently works as a real estate agent. The venue for the day was borrowed from “Keller Williams” real estate company. Peng Shengxiang expressed gratitude to “Main Street Home Loan” and Qiu Minghui for sponsoring refreshments and some of the expenses.
President Wang Zhiwei announced that there would be a food stall at the Newton Taiwan Day on May 4th. After June, the chamber will organize outdoor picnic and walking activities, entrepreneurship seminars, financial planning seminars, and Taiwan-US biotechnology industry seminars, among others. ◇
