Lai Ching-te Visits Anti-Terrorism Training Center, Urges Promotion of Society’s Defense Resilience.

President of the Republic of China, Lai Ching-te, visited the “National Immigration Agency Anti-terrorism Training Center” in Taoyuan today (June 13) and delivered a speech, expressing gratitude to the police colleagues for their active participation in enhancing anti-terrorism training. In recent years, facing the increasingly complex international situation and challenges such as incursions in the gray areas, Taiwan must combine efforts from all sides to promote the overall social defense resilience.

Upon arrival, President Lai Ching-te first visited various facilities at the anti-terrorism training center, then observed combat casualty care, wheeled armored vehicle assault exercises, high-risk search and arrest operations, and tube space anti-hijacking drills, while also receiving a briefing on special weapons and equipment.

In his speech, President Lai Ching-te first thanked all colleagues for their hard work in the scorching heat during the exercises and reminded everyone to stay hydrated and prioritize safety during duty and training.

President Lai Ching-te mentioned, “The more rigorous the training during peacetime, the more effective it will be in crucial moments.” The motto of the VIP Protection Unit is “All are watchdogs, I am the lone wolf,” and based on the recent drill, it couldn’t be more accurate.

“The VIP Protection Unit is one of the top-tier formations domestically, with very rigorous training. In addition to carrying out tasks such as anti-terrorism attacks and major criminal operations, they are also responsible for specialized missions like anti-violence, anti-sabotage, anti-hijacking, and anti-hijacking of aircraft and ships, which are crucial,” said President Lai Ching-te.

President Lai Ching-te emphasized that the “National Immigration Agency Anti-terrorism Training Center” was constructed to enhance Taiwan’s anti-terrorism capabilities, and the government will fully support the subsequent reconstruction of the base and the addition of shooting ranges. He urged the National Immigration Agency to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of these projects.

“Just now, I saw many realistic training facilities and colleagues from different units undergoing training,” mentioned President Lai Ching-te. These facilities and training are essential contributions necessary to continuously strengthen social security, safeguard national security, and ensure the safety of police colleagues on duty. He expressed his gratitude for everyone’s dedication to enhancing their training.

President Lai Ching-te stated that in recent years, facing increasingly complex international situations, climate change, incursions in the gray areas, and various challenges, it is necessary to unite efforts from all sectors to promote Taiwan’s overall social defense resilience and reduce the impact of various natural disasters and accidents on society. Police colleagues are crucial cornerstones of the overall social defense resilience. Without everyone’s dedication and contribution, this mission cannot be accomplished, making it difficult to defend social order and critical infrastructure.

President Lai Ching-te stressed that while no one wishes for real incidents to occur during exercises, proactive preparation not only provides a sense of security for the people but also equips Taiwan with the ability to address challenges. He believed that with everyone’s rigorous training and outstanding performance, various missions can be accomplished to defend social security and ensure the safety of people’s lives and property. Lastly, he wished the police colleagues good health and successful training.
