The Kuomintang Meixi Branch in the United States held a gratitude banquet on the evening of December 17th to express their appreciation to the various organizations, individuals, and volunteers who supported the “Mother of Love Commendation Ceremony.” At the event, they also elected Song Zhen as the new standing committee member.
Prior to the start of the gratitude banquet, the Meixi Branch held its last committee meeting of the year, during which Song Zhen was elected as the new standing committee member. The event was attended by Zhuang Yashu, Director of the Nanwan Overseas Chinese Education Center, along with over 70 representatives from community organizations, Meixi Branch members, and volunteers.
During her farewell speech, the outgoing standing committee member expressed deep gratitude to all the supporters. She recounted the various activities over the past years, acknowledging the contributions and support of sponsors, journalists, friends in the community, teachers, community leaders, and donors. She specially thanked the team and family of the Meixi Branch for their selfless dedication and infusion of energy into the activities.
In her address, the outgoing member also reflected on her mother’s patriotic spirit and discussed her deep emotional connection to the country and Mother’s Day. She then announced the results of the election for the new standing committee members, expressing her hopes for continued support for the new leadership to empower future activities.
Zhuang Yashu expressed gratitude to the leaders in the overseas Chinese community for their longstanding support of the country and overseas Chinese affairs. She highlighted the success of the Mother’s Day Commendation Ceremony held by the Meixi Branch in May this year, which honored compassionate mothers and raised awareness of the importance of women in society.
She particularly thanked the Meixi Branch for their significant contributions to the overseas Chinese community, actively participating in various activities, cooperating with community organizations, and serving the community as a vital link within the overseas Chinese community. She hoped the Meixi Branch would continue to grow and provide more support and assistance to the country.
Various advisory members and officials from organizations such as the Overseas Chinese Affairs Advisory Committee – Lin Gui Xiang, Lu Yuzhen, Chen Junya, and Wang Changtai; the standing committee members of the Chinese Kuomintang Resident Branch in the United States – Yang Kunshan; the former chairman of the Golden Gate Bay Area Republic of China National Day Celebration Committee – Chen Ligong; the president of the San Jose Taiwan Compatriot Association – Ma Qianjun; the general convener of the Ancestor Worship Committee – Mou Shanzhu; the director of the Kanghe Qiyin Center – Liao Xueping; the president of the Silicon Valley Outstanding People Association – Wu Wenyi; former presidents of the College Alumni Association – Ren Chenyuan, Ceng Lixiang, Lin Xiuchun; and teacher Peng Leyun from “Wings in the Wind” all attended the event to show their support and make the event a great success.
