On December 29th, a newborn baby girl was found abandoned outside a residence in the Bronx. Fortunately, a kind-hearted person brought the infant inside and alerted the authorities. The police are currently searching for the baby’s mother.
At around 6 a.m. that day, the baby girl, wrapped in a blanket, was placed in a handbag and abandoned outside a brick house at 1102 Rev James A Polite Ave. A neighbor discovered the handbag and heard crying, then brought the baby inside and called 911. The infant, only about five days old, was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where she is currently in stable condition under the care of hospital staff.
On the 30th, the police released surveillance footage of the person who abandoned the baby, wearing a black surgical mask and carrying a green handbag. The public is urged to help identify the individual by contacting the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting the crime stoppers website at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, downloading the NYPD Crime Stoppers mobile app, or texting 274637 (CRIMES) with the message TIP577 to provide tips.
