Recently, a 15-year-old female student fell from a building at Jinchao Experimental School in the Gaoxin District of Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province. The parents accused the school online of taking their child directly to the funeral home without confirming her death.
According to a video and post published online by the mother of the fallen student on February 24, on the afternoon of February 21, her daughter was chatting with classmates and teachers before being called into the office. When she returned to the classroom, her behavior changed drastically, appearing distracted and different from before. During this time, the teacher even messaged the parents claiming that the child’s grades had improved and encouraged them to let her use their phones for research and mentioned her desire to stay at her grandmother’s house as it was closer to the school. However, less than 40 minutes after communicating with the teacher, at 2:32 p.m., the mother received a call from the homeroom teacher informing her that her daughter had jumped from the third floor.
The mother of the student stated that the hospital was not far from the school, and within seven minutes, an ambulance arrived. Medical personnel performed resuscitation on-site for half an hour, managing to raise her heart rate from over 50 to just over 40. The doctors expressed pessimism about the situation, and the child was then transported to the First People’s Hospital. The parents followed the ambulance in their car.
However, the child was not taken to the hospital as expected but was diverted midway to the funeral home. They searched for almost two hours at the hospital before being informed that the child had been taken to the funeral home without their presence. Upon their arrival, the mother noted that the child’s body was still limp, indicating that she was not yet deceased.
The mother criticized the school for not providing a death certificate or receiving confirmation from a doctor regarding the girl’s status. Instead of administering immediate first aid, the school unilaterally took the child to the funeral home without the parents’ consent, prompting suspicions of hidden motives.
“At around 10 p.m., the auxiliary police present began forcibly taking away the body, insisting on placing it in the morgue,” the mother revealed. “In the end, my child’s body was forcibly removed.”
In response, Fuzhou, Jiangxi, reported early on February 25 that at 2:27 p.m. on February 21, a student from the ninth grade, 15-year-old Zhang, fell from the teaching building of Jinchao Experimental School in the Gaoxin District.
The report stated that immediately after the incident, the school called emergency services at 120 and notified the student’s parents. Nine minutes later, emergency responders arrived and provided urgent care. Approximately 20 minutes later, the parents reached the scene, and after half an hour of onsite efforts, the medical team pronounced the girl dead after failed resuscitation.
There is a significant discrepancy between the official report claiming the girl’s death and the account provided by the parents.
Furthermore, according to information shared by the NetEase account “Mr. Wang’s After-Dinner Tea,” the student’s mother mentioned that on the day of the incident, which was a Friday (the 21st), the school and relevant authorities informed her that investigations would be postponed until Monday (the 24th), followed by a detailed report on Tuesday. Surprisingly, the parents had not received any response, and the official statement released late on February 24 left them bewildered.
In addition, student group chat records circulated online revealed that fellow students alleged the girl did not die after jumping and that the school bypassed the hospital, opting instead to transport her directly to the funeral home without parental consent.
Students claimed that the school sought to cover up the incident, forbidding them from leaving school after the incident. Furthermore, they were granted a two-day break starting the next day, fearing parental unrest. Students requested members of the chat group to help spread the message to expose the incident.
Additionally, comments on various online video platforms indicated that, “Other students who saw it mentioned that (the girl) still showed signs of life after jumping from the building. The ambulance was intercepted on the way to the funeral home.”
The incident has sparked intense discussion online. Many netizens expressed shock, with comments ranging from “Oh my, this is so terrifying,” to questions like “Don’t they need parental consent?” and concerns such as “If this is happening within the school, one can only imagine what goes on outside.” Others pointed out other tragedies in schools across the country and emphasized the urgency of a thorough investigation.
