Israel Suspected Terror Attack: Car Rams Into Bus Station, Injuring 13

On Thursday, February 27, a Palestinian man drove a car into a bus station in northern Israel, injuring 13 people, with one teenage girl in critical condition who has been taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities have confirmed the incident as a terrorist attack.

Police chief Daniel Levy stated that the suspect was a Palestinian from the Jenin area in the West Bank and illegally resided in Israel with his Arab-Israeli wife. After fleeing the scene, he attempted to stab police officers and was ultimately shot dead.

The attack took place at the Karkur Junction bus station outside of Pardes Hanna, and authorities are investigating it as a terrorist attack.

Just a week ago, a series of bus bombings near Tel Aviv occurred, with Israeli officials linking these explosions to West Bank terrorists.

Medical officials have reported that a 17-year-old girl was seriously injured in the Thursday attack and was taken to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera in critical condition. The girl has been sedated and put on a ventilator, with severe injuries to her head and limbs.

Additionally, a 60-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman sustained serious head injuries, while an 18-year-old girl suffered moderate injuries, and another 6 people sustained minor injuries.

Israeli police informed Channel 12 News that the suspect’s vehicle suddenly accelerated as it approached the bus station and then rammed into the crowd.

Footage from the scene (link) shows a car speeding towards the bus station by the roadside and then veering back onto the road after the attack. Post-attack images reveal at least six people lying motionless on the grass near the bus station.

Subsequently, during the suspect’s attempt to flee by car, he rammed into a police vehicle, then exited with a screwdriver in hand, trying to stab the officers before being shot and killed by the police.

Arabic media reports identified the suspect as 53-year-old Jamil Zayoud from the Jenin area, living illegally in the Ma’ale Iron area with his Arab-Israeli wife.

While no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack, Hamas has openly praised the assault.
