Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Vice Chairman Wilson of the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee of the Irish Senate is leading a delegation to visit Taiwan with the aim of strengthening bilateral ties between Taiwan and Ireland.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed in a press release that the delegation of five Irish Senate members, invited by the Taiwanese government, is visiting Taiwan from the 14th to the 19th of the month. The members of the delegation include Vice Chairman Wilson of the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee, Senators Craughwell, Horkan, Keogan, and Ahearn.
During their visit to Taiwan, the delegation is scheduled to meet with Vice President Xiao Mei-chin, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Yuan Chang Ching-chung, Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu, and Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Mainland Affairs Council Shen Yu-chung. They will also visit the National Housing and Urban Renewal Center and attend a banquet hosted by Deputy Minister Chen Li-kuo of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, the delegation will tour Taipei 101, Dadaocheng, and visit Jiaoxi in Yilan to experience the natural beauty and cultural richness of Taiwan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that this is Vice Chairman Wilson’s third visit leading a delegation to Taiwan, emphasizing that the members of the delegation are steadfast friends of Taiwan who have long supported Taiwan’s participation in international organizations like the World Health Assembly (WHA). The visit is expected to deepen understanding of Taiwan’s democratic development and cross-strait relations, promote parliamentary exchanges between the two countries, and further enhance bilateral relations between Taiwan and Ireland.
