According to a message posted on the official website of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on February 4, with the assistance of the Needham Police Department in Boston on January 23, a targeted enforcement operation led to the apprehension of a foreign fugitive and criminal wanted by China for corruption, criminal embezzlement, fraud, and serious drug trafficking offenses in Taiwan.
The ICE published a photo of the fugitive at the time of the arrest, but it was blurred for confidentiality reasons.
Patricia H. Hyde, Acting Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston office, stated, “ERO Boston successfully captured this fugitive, highlighting our continued commitment to enforcing immigration laws and protecting American communities.” She added, “We will continue to prioritize public safety, apprehending and deporting any foreign criminals attempting to evade criminal prosecution and remain in the New England community.”
Hyde mentioned that the fugitive legally entered the United States as a temporary visitor in May 2019. The foreign criminal will remain detained by ERO until deportation.
