Hui Kin-lai Ready for Debate, Trump Team Responds

Ho Jinli said on Thursday that she is ready to debate with the Republican presidential nominee Trump. The Trump team responded by stating that they cannot commit to debating with Ho Jinli until the Democratic Party officially decides on its nominee.

Previously, Trump and Biden agreed to hold two debates, one on June 27 and another on September 10. However, Biden’s performance in the June debate was poor, leading to calls from Democrats for him to withdraw from the race. Faced with increasing pressure, he announced his withdrawal from the re-election campaign on Sunday.

After Biden’s withdrawal, Trump stated that he is willing to debate with Ho Jinli not just once but multiple times, but he hopes to change the host. He mentioned that ABC News is biased against him and suggested that the second presidential debate should be hosted by other media outlets like Fox News.

On Thursday, after returning to Washington from a speech in Houston, Ho Jinli told reporters, “I am ready to debate with Trump.”

She also urged Trump to participate in the debate scheduled by ABC News in September as planned.

“I am ready, I believe voters should see us side by side on the debate stage during this campaign, so I am ready. Let’s get started!” Ho Jinli said.

Subsequently, Trump’s PR director Steven Cheung issued a statement, saying, “Given the political chaos within the Democratic Party, the details of the general election debate cannot be finalized until the Democratic Party officially decides on the nominee.”

He mentioned that many Democrats believe Ho Jinli cannot defeat Trump and are “waiting for a better candidate.”

“Therefore, it is not appropriate to schedule time with Ho Jinli, as Democrats may still change their minds,” Steven Cheung said.

However, according to The Epoch Times English Edition’s statistics, Ho Jinli has received enough support from party representatives and is likely to become the Democratic Party’s nominee. The Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago from August 19 to 22.
