Huawei’s foldable screen phone exposed by consumers with “Top 10 Pitfalls”

Since the launch of Huawei’s first foldable screen phone, quality issues have been persistent. Recently, an IT professional in Guangdong released a video criticizing the “Top 10 Pitfalls” of Huawei’s foldable screen phone.

Mainland China influencer Wei Zhiguang recently uploaded a video on a short video platform revealing that at the end of last year, he spent over 20,000 yuan on a Huawei foldable screen phone. After just over three months of use, he encountered numerous quality problems, which seriously affected his work and daily life.

In the video, Wei Zhiguang disclosed the “Top 10 Pitfalls” of Huawei’s foldable screen phone.

Firstly, quality control issues. According to Wei Zhiguang, the Huawei foldable screen phone he purchased had issues such as liquid leakage and dead pixels. Despite the high purchase price of 23,000 yuan, he could only sell it for 6,000 yuan upon return. Repair personnel revealed that Huawei phones frequently exhibit such problems.

Secondly, phone function. He mentioned that the primary function of a phone is to make calls, but the Huawei foldable phone would automatically hang up inexplicably during calls, regardless of whether it was a domestic or international call.

Thirdly, headphone function. When using headphones to make calls or listen to music, the Huawei phone would suddenly switch to speaker mode, a phenomenon that occurred frequently and unexpectedly.

Fourthly, camera function. After taking photos with the Huawei foldable phone, the images would sometimes turn out blank, leading to difficulties in finding them in the gallery.

Fifthly, search function. Wei Zhiguang experienced frequent failures in using the phone’s search engine and WeChat search, resulting in blank search results.

He emphasized that for individuals conducting global business like himself, the Huawei phone was extremely inconvenient. Foreign calls could not connect smoothly, many overseas numbers were automatically blocked, and all overseas mobile applications could not be downloaded. Even with their “Outland Wing” software, it was impossible to use them effectively. Those who have used it know that a Huawei phone becomes useless once taken abroad.

The seventh point is about the phone’s sliding screen function. When scrolling up and down the screen, it would often jump between one fold, two folds, and three folds without warning, happening frequently and not sporadically.

As for the tenth point, Wei Zhiguang mentioned various issues encountered when using WeChat software, including the inability to add friends, malfunctioning page-turning features, and the loss of previous operations and messages when switching from one screen to two screens.

The influencer expressed in the video that he has made up his mind not to use this phone anymore. He questioned how such an expensive phone could not function properly for work nor make calls reliably, leaving him with a frustrating experience.

In September last year, Huawei’s Executive Director Yu Chengdong officially launched the Huawei Mate XT, the first foldable screen phone under the Huawei brand.

Yu Chengdong introduced that the Mate XT is the world’s first foldable screen phone, which he claimed would redefine the industry.

According to a search by reporters from Dajiyuan on social media platforms, many mainland consumers have reported issues with their Huawei foldable screen phones, such as liquid leakage, rendering the phones unusable. Furthermore, consumers were outraged by Huawei’s refusal to provide free repairs for various reasons.

Shortly after Huawei launched its first foldable screen phone, a video surfaced from a consumer who spent thousands of yuan on a Huawei foldable screen phone, only to experience severe quality issues such as liquid leakage within a month of use. Unfortunately, Huawei’s after-sales service refused to provide free repairs.
