Hong Kong Star Wang Xi Reveals Suffering from Acute Kidney Failure in Public Health Examination Report.

Three years ago, Hong Kong star Wang Xi moved to the UK and Taiwan. On the 14th, he posted two health examination reports on IG, revealing that he has been diagnosed with kidney failure but fortunately his condition has improved. Netizens have been leaving messages of condolences, expressing hope for Wang Xi’s recovery and well-being.

At 57 years old, Wang Xi gained popularity for his role as a firefighter in the film “In the Line of Duty.” He relocated to Taiwan from the UK in 2021 and in late December 2024, he shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed on social media with the caption “7000 Taiwanese dollars for a single room per night,” along with tags like “it’s fine,” “overthinking,” “sorry for the disturbance,” without disclosing his illness at that time.

On the 14th, Wang Xi posted two health examination reports on IG, revealing his diagnosis of kidney failure. He wrote, “From being told I needed ‘lifelong dialysis’ to ‘discharging myself,’ from end-stage kidney failure to stage 3B kidney failure, it proves that the genes my parents gave me are as strong as a rock.”

Many netizens expressed surprise and sent messages of support, saying, “We didn’t know it was such a serious matter; we hope you recover soon” and advising him to be cautious about his diet with kidney disease, reminding him to monitor his blood sugar closely.

Wang Xi, who had a background in the Hong Kong police force during the colonial era, changed careers to join a commercial radio station in 1990, and then switched to TVB in 1995. He later participated in the program “Headline News” on HKTV, which was loved by the public. However, during the “anti-extradition bill” movement in Hong Kong, complaints were made to the Communications Authority about the content of the program allegedly tarnishing the police force. The segments “Startling News” and “Incompetent Officials” were ruled to have defamed and insulted the police by the Communications Authority in 2020, leading HKTV to suspend the program’s production.

Wang Xi stated that the Communications Authority personnel considered the three-minute “Startling News” segment to have elements of “insulting the police,” prompting the program to be removed from public platforms. In response, Wang Xi pointed out that only the police themselves insulted the force.

After the program was suspended, many citizens expressed concern for Wang Xi’s personal safety and financial situation. Some were curious as to why Wang Xi, a former police officer, would expose the alleged wrongdoings of the Hong Kong police force so profoundly. In response, Wang Xi stated, “The police should originally be the hope of the public in times of peril, but now under the leadership of Chris Tang (then Chief of Hong Kong Police Force, currently Commissioner of Hong Kong Security Bureau), the Hong Kong police force has become the despair that pushes the citizens into peril!”

Following the implementation of the CCP’s “National Security Law” in Hong Kong, Wang Xi, like many other Hong Kong residents, chose to leave his homeland.
