High school girl in Shaanxi falls to her death amid allegations of being scolded by multiple teachers

In recent days, a female student at a high school in Yan’an, Shaanxi Province, reportedly jumped from a building and died due to being scolded by multiple teachers. According to online rumors, the student first attempted suicide after being scolded by two teachers, was rescued at one point but later scolded by three other teachers, leading to the tragic outcome.

Rumors circulating online stated that on July 4th, a female student from Class 6 of the Rocket Class at Yan’an High School jumped from the fifth floor of the teaching building and died on the spot after being insulted by a teacher.

The online rumors also mentioned that the student had been scolded by more than one teacher. During the school’s “July 1st” celebrations, with a provincial official visiting for inspection, the school required students to perform. The student did not want to participate and was reprimanded by Deputy Grade Leader Xu and Deputy Director of Student Affairs Kang in the morning. At noon, she left a suicide note and prepared to jump from the fifth floor but was saved by her classmates. Afterwards, she was scolded again by Xu, Kang, and Grade Director Wang. After a few minutes of class in the afternoon, she ran to the fifth floor and jumped to her death.

It was reported that the student had broken up with her boyfriend at the time. After the incident, the school called the student’s boyfriend to the office, asking him to sign a guarantee and suspended him from school. It was said that the school tried to shift the blame onto the boy, claiming that the girl jumped because they broke up, with the aim of expelling him so that the school would not be held responsible. The school even seemed to want to force the boy to death.

Many students witnessed the female student’s suicide. It was revealed that after the incident, the school suppressed the news, did not call for emergency medical help, and it was the student’s mother who called an ambulance after arriving at the school.

Under public pressure, the Yan’an Education Bureau announced on the 7th that the incident occurred at 2:25 pm on the 4th, and the student died from a high fall.

The announcement stated that during a group activity in the morning of the 4th, the student expressed unwillingness to participate, and Deputy Grade Leader Xu and Deputy Director of Student Affairs Kang inappropriately criticized and used improper language towards the student. On the 6th, Xu and Kang were dismissed, suspended from work, and under investigation. Grade Director Wang did not have contact with the student.

On the 8th, this news surged to the top of mainland China’s social media hot search list.

Many students expressed dissatisfaction with Kang’s educational methods, believing that their approach was “highly problematic.”

A prominent Weibo user, “Fat Tiger Whale,” questioned the nature of the group activity and its organizer. What entails the criticized inappropriate methods and language? Is it considered criminal? How did the local police conduct the investigation? There have been numerous rumors about this school online, has there been any verification?

Some netizens also questioned, “Dare to elaborate on ‘inappropriate methods, improper language’?””With a life at stake, is dismissing them the solution?”
