Henan man throws cigarette butt, causing explosion at ground floor firework stall.

Recently, a video of a man in Nanyang, Henan Province throwing a cigarette butt from the upstairs, causing a firework stall downstairs to explode, has gained attention online.

In the circulating video, a man is seen smoking on the second-floor platform of a street-facing shop in Nanyang. After finishing his cigarette, the man casually tosses the still burning cigarette butt out the window, landing directly on the fireworks and firecrackers displayed at the entrance of a shop downstairs. The video shows the black signboard of the store with the words “Xi Wine Cellar 1988 Changsheng Trading” written on it.

After about 10 minutes, white smoke starts to rise from the fireworks, followed by crackling explosions. A woman inside the shop rushes out upon hearing the noise to investigate, but by the time she returns with a fire extinguisher, it’s already too late. The firecrackers, ignited by the cigarette butt, start spreading flames and quickly engulf the entire firework stall.

Fortunately, with the help of bystanders, the fire is swiftly extinguished. However, the shop is left charred black, and all the fireworks at the entrance are ruined.

On February 11th, the Nanyang Fire Department released the video stating that there were no casualties in the accident, which occurred on January 22nd.

The dangers of throwing objects from high places have once again sparked concern online.
