Harvard Student Protests Chinese Ambassador, Aggressive Dragging Caught on Camera

Recently at Harvard University, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, Xie Feng, faced protests from three students during his speech. The situation escalated when a young man forcibly dragged a female student protester out of the venue, who was later identified as a Chinese student at Harvard, Zou Hongji. Experts suggest that Harvard University should reassess its pro-Communist stance, as similar protest incidents are expected to increase worldwide in the future.

On April 20, Xie Feng was invited to speak at the “Harvard Kennedy China Forum” organized by a student society at the Kennedy School of Harvard University. During the speech, two female students and one male student in the audience stood up, holding up signs accusing the Chinese Communist Party of lying in English, chanting Xie Feng’s name, and advocating for issues like human rights in Tibet and Xinjiang, as well as democracy in Hong Kong, causing discomfort for Xie Feng.

Video footage online showed the first Taiwan student protester being violently dragged out by a young man with long hair. However, the subsequent two student protesters were not subjected to the same rough treatment after the first student was removed from the venue.

Exiled Chinese activist Zhou Fengzhuo revealed that the three protesters were activists from the “Student Anti-Communist Alliance” and the “Free Tibet Student Association,” with one of the female protesters being Taiwanese-American Harvard student Wu Tinghua.

As Wu Tinghua was being removed, she berated the CCP, saying, “You have deprived the people of Hong Kong of their freedom, destroyed their democracy, and now you want to target my country, Taiwan! China (CCP) lies, people die!”

A video circulated online after Wu Tinghua and another female protester (from Tibet) were escorted out of the venue, with Wu Tinghua stating, “We Harvard students must tell him (Xie Feng) that we will not give him any propaganda platform!”

The aggressive man who forcibly removed the protesting student Wu Tinghua drew attention from netizens.

Chinese Internet celebrity “Master Shen” posted on X platform on April 21, pointing out that the Taiwanese female student protesting the Chinese ambassador was forcefully removed by Zou Hongji, chairman of Harvard’s Chinese Students and Scholars Association, a Beijing loyalist, studying international political economy and claiming to promote cross-cultural exchanges, but in reality, he merely glorifies China’s story and acts as a pawn of the CCP.

Later, “Master Shen” corrected: “Zou Hongji is not the president of the ‘Chinese Students and Scholars Association,’ he self-proclaims as the ‘Founder of the World Development Forum and Co-Chairman of the Harvard Forum.'”

Public records show that Zou Hongji and his twin brother Zou Hongyi are from Beijing, graduated from the Sino-U.S. joint venture Kunshan Duke University in China in 2023, and subsequently pursued graduate studies at Harvard University. The Kunshan Duke University official website has articles praising the two brothers.

“Master Shen” analyzed in the post that Zou Hongji most likely hails from a Communist family within the political system in Beijing, using the guise of “promoting multiculturalism” to beautify the CCP on the international stage. However, “when Chinese people don’t even have basic civil rights, what kind of world citizens are being promoted? Only fools would be deceived.”

On April 23, Sydney University of Technology associate professor Feng Chongyi also expressed to Epoch Times that after this incident, students from other schools are likely to follow suit. Students from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, and Xinjiang can use this method. This method does not require many people, individuals can act on their own.

Feng Chongyi mentioned that Chinese officials have always faced such embarrassing situations, and in the face of democratic containment from the world, the Xi Jinping regime remains unrepentant. “Until they pay a substantial price, they won’t care.”

In the aftermath of the Harvard protest incident, Xie Feng posted on X platform on April 22, reiterating the CCP’s official rhetoric of “comprehensive democracy,” claiming that the CCP is the “defender of democracy” and stating that 90% of Chinese people expressed satisfaction with the central government, according to an investigation by Harvard Kennedy School.

Feng Chongyi stated that Xie Feng’s praise of the CCP-style “democracy” is because Xi Jinping cannot tolerate anyone expressing views contrary to his own and Xie Feng serves as a mouthpiece for the CCP’s tyranny.

“Harvard Kennedy School stating that over 90% of Chinese people are satisfied with the CCP has been scorned by many. The CCP is a one-party dictatorship, devoid of any form of competitive elections or freedom of speech, with news biased towards the party. This shows that Xie Feng is lying boldly, but Harvard University should review the situation.”

Feng Chongyi mentioned that as the atrocities of the CCP become increasingly clear, more protests against such regimes are inevitable. “Those from a regime of crimes against humanity should be driven out and not allowed to spread lies worldwide.”

These incidents are likely to prompt students from other institutions to engage in similar protests. Students from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, and Xinjiang can also use such methods as a means of expression. Feng Chongyi remarked that Chinese officials have continuously faced such awkward situations, and in the face of democratic containment from the world, the Xi Jinping regime remains unrepentant.
