Guangxi Teacher’s Long-Term Sexual Abuse of Underage Female Students Case Escalates

On February 10, a shocking video exposing the heinous acts of Tang Yuwen, a teacher at Qifu High School in Baise, Guangxi, who has been accused of sexually assaulting underage female student Fu Yuehua, has caused uproar in society. The incident continues to escalate, with Tang Yuwen being suspended, under investigation for serious disciplinary violations, and taken into custody pending criminal charges.

The whistleblower stated that Tang Yuwen subjected his underage cousin, Fu Yuehua, to long-term sexual harassment and psychological manipulation from 2017 to 2020, which severely impacted her mental and physical well-being, eventually leading to her suicide on January 17 this year due to severe depression.

Fu Yuehua, who had achieved top scores in the county junior high school entrance exam, entered Qifu High School with a score of over 650 in science, ranking first in her class. During the years 2017 to 2020, Tang Yuwen, using his position, abused his authority under the guise of “individual tutoring” and “special training,” to sexually assault and psychologically manipulate the 15-year-old Fu Yuehua.

Living under the shadow of abuse, Fu Yuehua even gave up on the college entrance exam. After retaking the exam in 2021, she managed to enroll in the Physics program at East China Normal University with a score of 628 as the top scorer. However, the prolonged psychological stress led Fu Yuehua to suffer from depression. The onset of depression affected her ability to study normally, ultimately resulting in her dropping out of school.

Following her withdrawal from school, Fu Yuehua attempted suicide multiple times, underwent numerous rescue operations and mental health treatments, before tragically taking her own life due to severe depression.

Tang Yuwen, the grade director of the 2017 class at Qifu High School, a senior physics teacher, and a mentor for five national physics Olympiads, had been repeatedly lauded as an “outstanding mentor,” one of the “top ten young teachers at Qifu High School,” and an “excellent class teacher in Baise City.”

Ironically, Tang Yuwen’s actions have sparked outrage among many netizens, who believe that such behavior seriously violates the professional ethics of teachers, causing immense harm to the victims and their families. Some netizens remarked, “Individuals like him are not fit to be teachers and must face severe punishment!”

Many netizens expressed deep sympathy for the victim, recognizing the tragedy she endured and calling for greater attention to the mental health issues of young people. A comment read, “May the victim rest in peace, and may such tragedies never happen again.”

A significant number of netizens await the results of the ongoing investigation, urging relevant authorities to promptly uncover the truth and provide the public with a clear explanation.

In a post by blogger Chage Chufeng, it was mentioned that Tang Yuwen’s crimes were not a one-time event but had persisted for several years. During this time, did the school’s management turn a blind eye to these incidents or simply remain unaware? As a key high school, Qifu High School evidently had serious loopholes in teacher supervision and student protection. Tang Yuwen’s exploitation of his position to commit crimes highlights the school’s managerial negligence that cannot be excused.

The post stated that the Tang Yuwen incident exposes significant loopholes in the education system regarding teacher supervision and student protection. The inaction of the school’s management not only enabled criminal behavior but also indirectly led to the tragedy of Fu Yuehua.
