Guangxi Man Electrocuted While Fishing, 4,000 Kilograms of Fish Killed in Pond

Recently, in Xicun Village, Xicun of Qixing District, Guilin City, Guangxi, a 28-year-old man named Tang accidentally touched a high-voltage wire while casting his fishing rod at a fish pond, resulting in electric shock and burns. As a consequence, over 4000 catties of fish in the pond were also electrocuted.

According to a report by the Southern Daily on July 4th, after Tang was electrocuted, a woman accompanying him immediately called the owner of the fish pond, Mr. Mo, who then arranged for Tang to be taken to the hospital. Tang’s relatives revealed that he suffered burns on 80% of his body, indicating severe injuries.

Mr. Mo explained that his fish pond is not operated for commercial purposes, and he did not know Tang. He later learned that Tang was a friend of his friend, Mr. Fan, who had come to the fish pond to fish without his consent. He usually reminds his friends not to fish under high-voltage wires.

According to Mr. Mo, on that day, many villagers heard the explosive sound of the electric shock. The grass near where the man fell caught fire, and over 4000 catties of fish in the pond were also killed by the electric current.

Tang’s family expressed that Tang had many years of fishing experience and never expected such an incident to occur. They plan to seek justice after the relevant authorities investigate the situation.

Coincidentally, a similar incident occurred in Guangxi in October 2023. According to a previous report by Hangzhou Online, Gan, a resident of a village in Zhoulu Town, Mashan County, accidentally touched a 10KV high-voltage wire with his fishing rod when he lost his balance while fishing, resulting in his electrocution and death.
