Goat trapped on 5th-floor apartment ledge in Madrid, the cause remains a mystery

In a heartwarming incident in the capital city of Madrid, a goat found itself trapped on the 5th-floor window ledge of an apartment building recently, but fortunately, it was rescued in the end. However, the mystery of how and why the goat ended up there remains unsolved.

The Madrid fire department shared a roughly 3-minute video on social media, depicting the entire process of saving the stranded goat. This incident took place in Villaverde, one of the 21 districts of the city.

From the video, several firefighters can be seen approaching an apartment building. A brown goat was perched on the window ledge of a 5th-floor apartment, with the windows closed.

After reaching the adjacent balcony on the 5th floor, firefighters first fed the goat with carrots and lettuce to gain its trust. Subsequently, the goat, without any assistance, climbed onto a stretcher and walked towards the balcony, then proceeded into the room. This allowed the firefighters to capture it and bring it down to the ground.

Although goats are skilled climbers, authorities stated that they are still unsure how the goat ended up on the 5th-floor window ledge and who its owner is. However, before clarifying these questions, their primary focus is to find a home for the goat.

The goat was later handed over to the Madrid Emergency Veterinary Service for treatment, with authorities actively searching for its owner.

Such amusing stories of livestock appearing in high places for unknown reasons have occurred before, as reported by Dajiyuan. In a previous incident near Bern, Switzerland in 2014, a cow unexpectedly appeared on the slanted roof of a farmhouse, maintaining its balance without falling, leaving passersby in awe.

The astonishing sight was captured by cyclist Rolf Steiner, who expressed disbelief at what he saw and had to double-check to confirm it was real.

This heartwarming rescue in Madrid serves as a reminder of the kindness and dedication of emergency services in ensuring the safety and well-being of all creatures in need.
