Gansu’s former Vice Governor Yang Zixing expelled from party membership and referred to judiciary

Six months after being removed from office, former vice governor of Gansu Province, Yang Zixing, has been expelled from the Party, had his benefits revoked, and been referred to the judicial authorities.

On December 12th, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervision Commission of the Communist Party of China reported that Yang Zixing, former member of the Gansu Provincial Government Party Group and vice governor, engaged in political cliques, resisted organizational review, accepted banquet and travel arrangements in violation of regulations, used public funds to pay for personal expenses, sought benefits for others in cadre selection and appointment work, and accepted gifts and money improperly, engaged in profit-making activities, intervened in market economic activities, and engaged in corruption, engaging in power and money transactions, using his position for personal gain in project contracting, enterprise operation, and job promotion, and receiving huge sums of money.

According to the report, Yang Zixing has been expelled from the Party, had his benefits revoked, and been referred to the judicial authorities.

On June 12th this year, Yang Zixing was officially investigated, six years after stepping down as governor.

Born in October 1959, Yang Zixing began working in March 1976, and has long served in Gansu Province, having previously held positions such as Deputy Secretary of the Longnan City Party Committee, Mayor and Party Secretary of Dingxi City, and Executive Deputy Minister of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee Organization Department in 2013. In 2015, Yang Zixing was appointed as Vice Governor of Gansu Province.

Public reports indicate that in January 2018, Yang Zixing no longer held the position of Vice Governor of Gansu Province.

During his tenure as Vice Governor of Gansu Province, Yang Zixing had previously received a warning sanction. In 2017, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council reported on ecological environmental issues in the Qilian Mountains National Nature Reserve in Gansu Province, stating that at the time, Yang Zixing, who was in charge of the ecological environment protection work in the Qilian Mountains, did not exercise strict oversight and bore leadership responsibility for the ecological environment issues in the reserve, resulting in a serious warning within the Party.
