On January 3, a serious car accident occurred in Heyuan, Guangdong province. A small sedan ran a red light and collided at high speed with a large truck, instantly shattering into pieces. The scene was extremely gruesome.
According to an online road surveillance video, around 9:40 a.m. at an intersection, several cars were waiting at a red light. Suddenly, a white sedan sped out from behind at an extremely fast speed, ran the red light and crashed into the rear of a large truck crossing the intersection from the opposite direction. The truck overturned on the road, while the white sedan was instantly smashed into pieces, with its parts scattered all over.
A driver waiting at the adjacent lane for the traffic lights told Red Star News that the white sedan had changed lanes from the middle lane to the far left lane before the collision, avoiding a scooter and several cars waiting at the red light. However, the white sedan did not slow down and ended up colliding at high speed with the large truck coming from the opposite direction.
The driver mentioned that the sedan was speeding and seemed to have lost control. “As the car passed, my car shook a bit. If it hadn’t changed lanes to avoid, my family of three inside the car would have been in grave danger. She (the sedan driver) minimized the losses of this accident.”
An eyewitness at the scene stated, “She ran the red light. I was waiting next to her at the red light, and a white blur flew by in front of me, making my legs go weak with fear!”
Close-up footage taken at the scene asked where the driver had disappeared to, and a bystander responded, “Shattered, shattered, the person is all shattered.” It is evident that the impact at the time was very severe.
That night, the Heyuan City Public Security Bureau’s Yuancheng Sub-bureau reported that at 9:40 on the 3rd, at the intersection of Guishan Avenue and G205 National Highway in Yuancheng District of Heyuan City, a collision occurred between a small sedan and a large truck. The sedan was severely damaged, and the truck overturned. The sedan driver died on the spot, and there were no other passengers in the car. Two people inside the truck were injured but not in critical condition.
The incident sparked discussions online. Many netizens commented, “The speed must have been close to 200, if not 180.” Some said, “It could be due to a vehicle system malfunction. The driver couldn’t do anything. I have experienced it myself before. Luckily, there was a green belt in front, so I didn’t hesitate to rush through, and the losses were minimal.”

It was reported that there was a wedding car passing by at the scene in the surveillance video. If the truck hadn’t blocked it, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
