Founder of a well-known gym dies 3 months after being shot during a robbery.

A well-known gym founder, who was shot in the head during an attempted robbery three months ago, has passed away, as announced by his family and friends on Instagram.

According to a report by a local news agency, Miguel Angel Aguilar, 40, passed away on Saturday, December 21st. He and his wife were attacked by four robbers while walking on the streets of Bell Air on September 13th.

Aguilar was the founder and CEO of Self-Made Training Facility, a chain of gyms with 30 locations in California, Arizona, Texas, Ohio, Nevada, Florida, and Virginia. Aguilar and his brand had over 52,000 followers on Instagram.

In an Instagram post, Aguilar’s family and colleagues shared that after a brave battle for three months following the tragic incident on September 13th, Miguel passed away peacefully on December 21st, surrounded by his loved ones.

Three 19-year-old men from Oakland have been charged with murder, robbery, and the use of a semi-automatic firearm among other charges. The fourth robber died from fatal injuries during the confrontation.

The three suspects have pleaded not guilty and are currently being held without bail, with a court appearance scheduled for January 7th.

Friends and family remembered Aguilar as a fitness enthusiast and innovator.

“Miguel was not just a leader; he was a visionary, an inspirational figure, a mentor, a father, a husband, a family member, and a dear friend to many,” the post read. “His unwavering dedication to Self-Made Training, his passion for the fitness industry, and his entrepreneurial spirit leave a lasting legacy.”
