Former Minister of the CCP Central Propaganda Department Wang Renzhi dies in Beijing

Former Minister of the Central Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Wang Renzhi, passed away in Beijing on February 4th.

According to reports from official Chinese state media, the Retirement Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences issued a death announcement stating that Wang Renzhi, a member of the Communist Party of China and former Vice President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, passed away at the age of 92 in Beijing at 9:45 a.m. on February 4, 2025.

Public records show that Wang Renzhi was originally from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, and served as the Director of the Policy Research Office of the National Development and Reform Commission of the CPC, as well as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the magazine “Hongqi”. From January 1987 to November 1992, he served as the Minister of the Central Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party, before being transferred to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to hold positions such as Vice President. He was also a member of the 12th and 13th Central Committees and a Standing Committee member of the 9th and 10th National Committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

According to previous reports, in less than two months from October to the end of November 2024, at least 11 senior officials in the Communist Party’s propaganda system have passed away, including five people at the deputy ministerial level, such as Jin Chong, former Executive Deputy Director of the Central Office of Literature Research of the CPC, Zheng Mengxiong, former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Daily, and Ding Weizhi, former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

In addition, CCTV reporters Gu Guoning (46 years old) and Zhou Wei (60 years old) also passed away successively.
