Public records show that Yu Wenming was born in June 1963 in Shanxian, Shandong Province, and a member of the Agricultural Workers’ Party. He started working in August 1988. He has held various positions, including journalist and editor at the China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, head of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Communication, deputy director, and director of the China Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Development and Exchange in 1997.
Yu Wenming became the deputy director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the CCP in 2004. During his tenure, he served as the head of the Agricultural Workers’ Party Beijing Municipal Committee in 2007, and as the full-time vice chairman of the 16th Central Committee of the Agricultural Workers’ Party in December 2017.
In June 2018, Yu Wenming was appointed as the director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the CCP, and he stepped down in July 2023, before the recent investigation.
