On February 10th, Beijing Third Intermediate People’s Court publicly announced the verdict in the case of Fan Liangliang, former Deputy District Chief of Chaoyang District, Beijing, for corruption and bid-rigging.
Fan Liangliang was sentenced to 12 years in prison for corruption and fined 1.2 million yuan (RMB), and sentenced to 1 year in prison for bid-rigging with a fine of 50,000 yuan. The court decided to execute a 12-year 6-month prison term and a fine of 1.25 million yuan.
In March 2023, 48-year-old Fan Liangliang was investigated during his tenure. However, it is puzzling that there is no information available online about his investigation, arrest, or the first-instance court hearing.
Public records show that Fan Liangliang was born in Dalian, Liaoning in August 1979, obtained a doctoral degree in engineering from Tsinghua University, joined the Chinese Communist Party in December 2005, and started working in August 2007.
Fan Liangliang worked in Beijing for a long time, holding positions such as Deputy Director of the Housing Market Management Office of the Beijing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission, Deputy Director of the Office of the Beijing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission, Director of the Administrative Deputy Center Coordination Office of Tongzhou District, Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of Zhangjiawan Town, Tongzhou District, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xizhizhen Town, Tongzhou District, and more.
In October 2021, Fan Liangliang was appointed as Deputy District Chief of Chaoyang District, Beijing, until he fell from grace in March 2023.
