After the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the first “tiger” in Inner Mongolia: Du Zi, former deputy director of the Inner Mongolia People’s Congress, was transferred to the judiciary in a bribery case, and the Supreme Procuratorate decided to arrest him on suspicion of bribery. In April this year, Du Zi fell from power, becoming the 20th “tiger” to fall this year.
According to a report from the Supreme Procuratorate of the Communist Party of China on October 17th, Du Zi, former deputy secretary and deputy director of the Party Committee of the Inner Mongolia People’s Congress, was suspected of bribery. The case was investigated by the National Supervisory Commission and forwarded to the procuratorial organs for review and prosecution. Recently, the Supreme Procuratorate made a decision to arrest Du Zi on suspicion of bribery. The case is still under further investigation.
The report stated that Du Zi resisted organizational review; engaged in irregular selection and appointment of officials and accepted bribes; illegally accepted gifts; was corrupt and degenerate, did not pay attention to family ethics, causing a negative impact; inflated greed, engaged in power and money transactions, used his power to profit in areas such as project contracting, coal resource allocation, and job adjustments for others, and accepted huge amounts of money.
According to the report, Du Zi has been expelled from the Party, had his privileges revoked, and handed over to the judiciary.
Public records show that Du Zi was born in June 1955, from Tokto County, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia, and is about to turn 70 years old. Du Zi has been working in Inner Mongolia and retired six years ago.
Du Zi has held various positions in his career, including Director of the Office of the Inner Mongolia Party Committee Propaganda Department, member of the Ikshao League Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Minister of Propaganda Department, Mayor and Party Secretary of Ordos City, Party Secretary of Tongliao City, Standing Committee member of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Party Committee and Deputy Director of the People’s Congress Standing Committee. In January 2018, during the reshuffle of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People’s Congress, Du Zi did not continue to serve as the Deputy Director.
