According to a report by the Zhejiang Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission on the evening of December 13th, Lin Hong, the former party secretary of Xianju County, Taizhou, Zhejiang, and current vice chairman of the Taizhou Municipal Political Consultative Conference, who once conducted a live-streaming session selling goods amounting to 712,000 yuan, is under investigation for alleged “serious violations of discipline and law”.
Lin Hong, 57 years old and originally from Wenling, Zhejiang, had long served in various positions in Taizhou City, Zhejiang. In July 2011, she took office in Xianju County, serving in important roles such as county governor and county party secretary.
During her tenure as the party secretary of Xianju County, on April 19, 2020, Lin Hong conducted a live-streaming session promoting local specialty products, leveraging her outstanding appearance. In just 2 hours, she sold over 5,000 products, with sales amounting to 712,000 yuan, becoming a well-known figure in the area and earning the title of “Beauty Secretary”. On April 25 of the same year, Lin Hong was elected as the vice chairman of the Taizhou Municipal Political Consultative Conference. She stepped down as the party secretary of Xianju County in August of the same year, until the recent investigation.
According to reports in the Chinese mainland media, Lin Hong is implicated in acts of corruption, abuse of power, and other violations of discipline and law, leading to the Zhejiang Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision initiating a “disciplinary review and supervisory investigation” against her. These accusations have sparked public attention and transformed Lin Hong’s image from a respected official to a controversial figure.
Furthermore, public records show that Lin Hong was born in June 1967 and started working at the age of 18 in 1985, yet she holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Illinois Institute of Technology in the United States. This has also raised questions about possible academic credential falsification issues surrounding her.
