On March 30th, an explosion occurred in the ancient city area of Jimo, Qingdao, Shandong. After several loud bangs, thick smoke billowed from the scene, causing nearby residents to panic and run out of their buildings.
Multiple videos circulated online showing the intense shockwave shattering window frames, with flames and smoke instantly erupting from the windows. Furniture and other objects inside residents’ homes were also blasted out of the windows, leaving the person filming screaming in fear.
Some internet users described hearing a single loud bang that made the entire ground shake, leading many to flee in panic.
According to a report by Henan Public Channel, Qingdao’s fire department personnel stated that the fire had been extinguished, while the cause of the explosion was still under investigation.
After the blaze was put out, concerned citizens went to the site and found remnants of multiple electric bicycles in several rooms, as reported by “Pengbo News.”
An insider revealed that fireworks ignited the electric bikes in the apartment where the incident occurred. However, some residents in the same community claimed that the explosion resulted from residents charging the electric bikes inside their homes.
Footage displayed the aftermath of the extinguished fire, showing a scene of devastation inside the house, with walls, floors, and ceilings charred black, resembling an uninhabited construction site. It remains unclear whether there were any casualties among the residents.
