On March 9th, Li Ting, the ex-wife of former CCTV journalist Wang Zhian, suddenly went live on the internet, crying bitterly in front of the camera, accusing Wang Zhian of deceiving her into divorce. During the live stream, Wang Zhian appeared and berated Li Ting, repeatedly shouting “get out of here” and eventually calling the police.
According to Li Ting during the live stream, Wang Zhian convinced her to move to Japan, but just two months later, she was forced to sign divorce papers.
In the midst of the live stream, Wang Zhian appeared on camera, using vulgar language to yell at Li Ting, “Get out, get out of my house, do you hear me? You’ve been living in our house for nine days.”
Li Ting retorted, “You gave me the keys.” Wang Zhian repeatedly threatened her, saying, “Get out, if you don’t leave, I will call the police immediately.” “You are going to jail.”
While Wang Zhian was calling the police, Li Ting continued to cry. She tearfully repeated in front of the camera, “Wang Zhian wants to force me to death.” “During the divorce, he promised me that he wouldn’t force me to come to Japan, and just two months after we arrived, he forced me to divorce.” “You always say I divorced him, that’s not true, he forced me to divorce… When he divorced me, it was on condition that he wouldn’t have more children, he said our daughter would get all of his fatherly love, that’s what he said… Now he wants to push me to death and even call the police.”
Li Ting also mentioned that in 2018 when she worked at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with over 800 followers online, Wang Zhian demanded her to withdraw from the internet, forbidding her from publicly discussing their marriage because “he is already famous, the family can’t have two people in the limelight.”
The above live video has spread like wildfire overseas, sparking discussions among netizens.
Wang Zhian has been involved in the Chinese Communist Party propaganda system for many years, and he and the programs he hosts have been criticized for sensationalism. For unknown reasons, Wang Zhian was banned across all Chinese platforms in January 2020, subsequently relocating to Japan where he ventured into self-media, opening X accounts and managing a YouTube channel.
Despite some of Wang Zhian’s public statements appearing to be “anti-communist,” he has long been suspected of being a major overseas propaganda figure for the Communist Party of China.
On November 1, 2022, Radio Free Asia released an exclusive interview with Wang Zhian.
In response to allegations that he is a key external propagandist for the Communist Party of China, Wang Zhian stated, “I am not anti-communist, nor am I anti-Party.” “I have no interest in being pro or against communism.”
Lixiaomu, a Japanese-Chinese writer who had interactions with Wang Zhian, once mentioned that Wang Zhian often emerges “when the Communist Party needs him the most.”
Following controversial statements after the 2024 Taiwan presidential election, he was banned from entering Taiwan for five years.
