Former CCTV reporter Wang Zhian’s ex-wife Li Ting recently revealed in a live stream that she was deceived by Wang Zhian into divorce, causing the latter to be infuriated and continuously curse in front of the camera and call the police. After being taken away by the police, Li Ting went through a series of events and in her second live stream, she exposed more details and further revealed Wang Zhian’s wrongdoings.
On March 9th, Li Ting started a live stream, tearfully accusing Wang Zhian of deceiving her into divorce – Wang Zhian convinced her to move to Japan, but two months later, she was forced to sign a divorce agreement. During the live stream, Wang Zhian suddenly used foul language to scold Li Ting and shouted, “Get out of my house… Get out!” Wang Zhian also called the police.
After being taken away by the police, Li Ting was eventually verified by the police and doctors that she was not in need of forced treatment. Upon her release, she went live again to talk about her experiences.
She mentioned that she was taken to a psychiatric hospital by the police because Wang Zhian accused her of “threatening him and his girlfriend with a knife” and “not allowing the children to go to school.” She fortunately had evidence to prove otherwise as the children confirmed that their mother did not prevent them from attending school.
Li Ting revealed that their children also refuted Wang Zhian’s accusation of her threatening him and his girlfriend with a knife because the children were present at the time. The children stated that Wang Zhian slammed a cup on the table and approached Li Ting. When asked why the mother thought the father was going to hit her, the child said it was because the father had hit the mother before. This revelation brought Li Ting to tears.
Li Ting mentioned Wang Zhian’s history of domestic violence, stating, “When I was domestically abused years ago, I reported it to the police in Beijing, and there is a record of it. There was another incident at Beijing Aibei Palace postpartum center where he physically abused me.” She emphasized, “There is a record of me reporting to the police in the early years.”
She claimed that she was constantly asked to “hide” or “withdraw from social media,” which hindered her ability to work normally, leading to a deteriorating financial situation. She used to work at the Chinese Academy of Sciences domestically and had a large following on social media, but due to adhering to Wang Zhian’s request to “stay out of the public eye,” she had to give it up.
In 2019, Wang Zhian was banned across the internet in mainland China for unknown reasons, and in January 2020, he moved to Japan.
Li Ting said that Wang Zhian convinced her to move to Japan. She was forced to leave the mainland and couldn’t return, couldn’t see her family, and lived isolated in Japan for nearly six years.
Li Ting mentioned that she felt compelled to “reveal everything” publicly. She mentioned that she wanted a dignified divorce and had not disclosed anything online for the past six years. However, in recent years, the pressure escalated from the other side, especially regarding their child custody. While she primarily took care of the children, Wang Zhian sought to regain custody and had even hired a lawyer. He slandered her in front of the police and ward office, which forced her to publicly expose Wang Zhian’s actions online. She hoped to retain custody of the children and not lose her daughter.
Li Ting highlighted that the child support Wang Zhian provided amounted to about 4,000 RMB per month, which is difficult to sustain a normal life in Tokyo. She believed this did not align with Wang Zhian’s actual economic situation.
Wang Zhian was exposed to having a new girlfriend who was pregnant. However, during the divorce, Wang Zhian claimed that he no longer wanted children, assuring to provide complete fatherly love to both his and Li Ting’s children.
Li Ting mentioned that Wang Zhian did not inform her about his new girlfriend’s pregnancy until the child was due soon, letting their daughter know only then. He forced the daughter to meet and have meals with his girlfriend, causing the child discomfort. Due to the emotional impact on the child, she argued with Wang Zhian.
Li Ting repeatedly emphasized that she was “pushed to the limit” and going online was the only way she could seek help.
In December 2015, Wang Zhian resigned from CCTV and in May 2017, he launched a web program called “Jiemian” in mainland China.
In 2019, for unknown reasons, Wang Zhian was completely banned across the internet in mainland China and he moved to Tokyo, Japan in early 2020. Starting from May 2022, he began operating his own media channel and a news commentary program on YouTube, being long suspected of being an overseas propagandist for the Chinese Communist Party.
During the Taiwan election in January 2024, Wang Zhian participated in a web talk show in Taiwan mocking the election rallies as shows and made derogatory gestures imitating disabled individuals, sparking controversy. As a result, he was banned from entering Taiwan for five years.
