Elon Musk Donates to Trump Campaign Team

Billionaire Elon Musk has reportedly made a donation to a pro-Trump super political action committee, according to sources familiar with the matter. The donation was made to an organization called “America PAC,” although the exact amount contributed by Musk remains undisclosed at this time. Nevertheless, insiders believe it to be a significant sum. America PAC is scheduled to disclose its list of donors on July 15.

This move highlights the increasing influence of the tech mogul in the political arena. While this news emerges, Trump has been catching up on fundraising with the help of some wealthy corporate donors, narrowing the gap with his rival, Biden. Biden’s fundraising efforts have seen a decrease following the presidential debate, with some affluent Democratic donors pausing large donations temporarily.

Musk has not publicly endorsed any candidate yet. Back in March, Trump met with Musk and other billionaires, during which Musk indicated that he did not intend to contribute financially to either Trump’s or Biden’s campaigns.

Despite past conflicts between Musk and Trump, their relationship has been growing closer. The tech entrepreneur has provided advice to the former president on electric vehicles and cryptocurrency policies. During Tesla’s annual meeting last month, Musk discussed his relationship with Trump, stating, “We’ve had some conversations, and he does randomly call me sometimes.”

Previously, Trump praised Musk at a rally in Arizona, referring to him as a “super fan” of electric cars and Musk himself. Musk emphasized to Trump the benefits of electric vehicles for the future and highlighted America’s leadership in battery-powered cars.

In May, sources indicated that if Trump were to reclaim the White House in the November U.S. election, he might consider appointing billionaire Elon Musk as a policy advisor. Several individuals familiar with the matter informed The Wall Street Journal that Musk and Trump have been holding discussions over the phone on a monthly basis since March, addressing various policy matters including immigration and the economy.
